My name is Luis Barela, the grandson of Patrociño Barela. I live in Taos, NM and have been carving for 44 years. I gather the most unique juniper wood I can find and carve unpainted bultos from the shape of the wood. I use the grain and colors of the wood as my paint. I work and show out of my studio in Talpa, NM.
